What Drawing Means to Us

Drawing is any image or composition created using lines and shades - typically in a single color - using tools such as a pen, pencil, or brush. It is one of the oldest and most universal forms of artistic expression, practiced by virtually every human being at some point in life.

As history shows, drawing is the earliest known form of art - a timeless medium that transcends cultures and generations.

For me personally, drawing holds deep significance. It trains my eye to observe, understand, and appreciate the world around me in greater detail. It’s not just a skill - it’s a way of seeing and connecting with life.

The Power of Drawing in My Creative Life

Drawing helps me develop a keen sense of observation - it trains me to become a careful and attentive observer in the creative world. It sharpens my perception because the act of drawing requires more than just seeing; it involves my eyes, my hand, and my mind working together in harmony.

Through drawing, I’ve acquired the skill and ability to express my ideas, thoughts, and feelings visually. It’s more than just a technique - it’s a language I use to communicate with the world around me.

In fact, drawing is an essential skill that serves many professions, but for me, it’s much more than that. It’s something I truly enjoy. It’s part of my daily life, and I honestly cannot do without it.

All of my artworks are rooted in drawing. It is the foundation of my creativity, and in this world of art, no medium or surface is an obstacle - everything becomes a canvas for expression.

Things to Note Before I Start Drawing

Before I begin any drawing, there are a few important steps I always follow to ensure the best results:

  1. Study the Subject
I carefully observe what I want to draw, identifying the basic shapes and considering the proportions and size of each object.

  2. Observe the Light Source
I take note of the direction and intensity of light, as it plays a key role in creating depth, contrast, and realism.

  3. Sketch Basic Outlines
I begin by lightly sketching the outlines of the main shapes to establish the overall structure of the drawing.

  4. Add Key Details
I gradually add finer details that bring the drawing to life - this step helps me meet or even exceed the expectations I have for the final piece.
